What is SPRYNET?
SPRYNET is a low-cost service that provides global access to the Internet. It includes Internet access, service, content and software.

SPRYNET Technical Support

Where can I get SPRYNET technical support?
If you're connected, you can chat live with SPRYNET technical support 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week on SPRY Online support. If you don't have a chat program, you can download SPRY Chat from SPRYNET.

You can also post messages on our Internet Support Forum. SPRYNET staff members monitor this forum Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (PST), Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PST).

If you want to talk to a SPRYNET technical support specialist over the phone, call 206-957-8993. Telephone technical support is available from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (PST) Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (PST) Saturday and Sunday.

Can I ask about non-SPRY products in the SPRYNET technical support forum or chat room?
As long as you are a SPRYNET member, we will provide technical support for the most commonly used Internet programs. However, if the software has a serious problem that requires advanced support, the SPRYNET technical support staff will you in direct contact with the third party's technical expert.

SPRYNET Access

How many local dial-in areas does SPRYNET have?
We currently have 480 local dial-in areas (points of presence or POPs) worldwide. Of these POPs, 409 are national (local United States numbers) and 71 are international.

How much of the United States has local coverage?
SPRYNET offers local dial-in access to 92% of the US population.

Can I access the networkfrom outside the United States? If so, are international surcharges involved?
International surcharges are only applicable when you're dialing through a third party network that CompuServe does not own. There are approximately 72 POPs that fall into this category; however, these POPs are in addition to the 480 available worldwide from CompuServe. There are no additional SPRYNET charges for network access outside the USother than the monthly subscription rate.

What modem speeds does SPRYNET support?
Currently, about 40% of the 480 POPs have 28.8 access. By mid summer, 1996, all POPs will support 28.8 access.

How do I find my local dial-in number?
You can look up your local number in the SPRY Internet Wizard Phone Book, included with your SPRYNET software, or online in Find A Local Access Number.

What else do I get with SPRYNET?
With SPRYNET's Internet service, you also get access to SPRYNET's gopher server, IRC server, newsgroups and 5MB of disk space to publish your home page.

SPRYNET Applications

Can I use non-SPRY applications on SPRYNET?
Yes, the SPRYNET service will work with ANY Internet software. In fact, we encourage new users to go directly to SPRYNET's Net Tools. In this area, can download navigational tools, general Internet software and the latest Internet technology like Shockwave and Real Audio. We'll provide you with the software that you need to get up and running, but if you want something else, it is YOUR choice.

Can I have more than one e-mail address with my SPRYNET account? At this time, only one e-mail address is possible with each SPRYNET account. We are currently working on allowing multiple e-mail addresses. Check What's New for updates.

SPRY Mosaic is a 16-bit browser. Will it work on Windows 95?
Yes, SPRY Mosaic is designed to work on both 16 and 32 bit systems. If you're using an older version of SPRY Mosaic (i.e., Mosaic In A Box 1.1, Mosaic In A Box for Windows 95, Internet In A Box, etc.), you can upgrade to the latest version in Net Tools.

What operating systems does SPRYNET support?
SPRYNET currently supports Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Macintosh.

Will SPRYNET be sold in stores?
SPRYNET is available through Internet In A Box, Mosaic In A Box, and Internet In A Box for KIDS. SPRYNET disks are free.

Do I use the SPRY dialer or the Windows 95 dialer?
During the initial sign-up, you need to use SPRY Dialer.

Pricing and Membership

How do I sign up for SPRYNET?
If you already have Internet access but want to switch to SPRYNET, fill out the form on the SPRYNET site or e-mail us at info@sprynet.com. We'll mail you the disks. If you prefer, you can also download SPRYNET off our site.

How much is SPRYNET?
The software is free. You have a choice of three pricing plans for Internet access: $4.95 per month for three hours of access and $9.95 per month for seven hours. Each additional hour is $1.95. Unlimited access is just $19.95 a month.

Will I get any free hours during my first month?
As a new SPRYNET member, you'll receive three complimentary hours in addition to your first month's regular hours to explore the Internet and find out if SPRYNET is right for you. Mosaic In A Box purchasers also receive three free hours.

If you purchase Internet In A Box or Internet In A Box for KIDS and sign up with SPRYNET, you'll receive one free month of Internet access.

What do I get on the SPRYNET disk?
The SPRYNET disk includes the 16 bit SPRY Mosaic browser with tables support, SPRY Mail, the SPRY Dialer and account creation software.

Is there an additional charge to host my home page?
No. With SPRYNET membership you get 5MB of space to create and publish your home page free. There are no extra charges involved. We'll even throw in the authoring and publishing software for free.

Are there any extra charges to access www.sprynet.com? Currently www.sprynet.com is open to the entire Internet community. By mid May, 1996, certain areas will only be accessible to InterServ and SPRYNET members.

I'm an InterServ customer. Do I need to change my e-mail address to sprynet.com?
As an InterServ member, you can keep your existing e-mail address. If you'd like to change your e-mail address to the @sprynet.com domain, call us at (206) 957-8997.

I'm an InterServ customer. How do I switch to the new pricing plan?
Current InterServ members can call 1-800-SPRYNET or send an e-mail request to upgrade@sprynet.com. A customer service representative will upgrade your account.

I get both CompuServe and Internet access with my current pricing plan of $19.95 for 20 hours and $1.95 for each additional hour. Under the new pricing plan, do I now receive unlimited CompuServe and Internet access?
The unlimited pricing plan is only for Internet access. If you want to keep your CompuServe and Internet account, you need to stay with your current pricing plan.

If you aren't on this plan and want unlimited Internet access, as well as CompuServe access, you need to create two separate accounts: CompuServe and SPRYNET.

Are there any limitations or restrictions on the unlimited access?
If you are on SPRYNET's unlimited plan, you have true unlimited access. There are no set-up charges and no time restrictions.

SPRYNET does not censor any newsgroups. We currently offer over 15,000 newsgroups. If there's one you want added, send an e-mail to feedback@spry.com.

Is there any way to keep my children from viewing undesirable sites?
We offer Cyber Patrol for download off the SPRYNET site. Cyber Patrol filters out undesirable sites. For more information, go to Net Tools.
